"Making a Difference for One Horse at a Time!"

Our President/Founder Courtney Hobson has always had a passion for horses and got into training horses for that reason. She wanted to help horses mainly who were so misunderstood by their owners and were falling into a cycle of abuse with trainers who tried to force things upon the horses or just plain mis understood them. She wanted to create better understanding and a give a voice to those without one. She wanted to make a difference for all the horses out there being mis treated, neglected, and abused.
UAWR began back in 1996 and Courtney was very heavily into training and lessons and she leased some lesson horses and one who we called Garth (formerly known as Mudrat) touched all of our hearts when he came to us with his eyes literally stuck shut with mucous, very thin, and in need of lots of TLC and food. When his lease was up at the end of that summer in 1996 we could not bare the thought of him going back to the man who leased these horses out to camps and rental strings sooo we purchased him, at a heafty fee I might ad but it was well worth all of our efforts. Garth lived to be approx 45 years old.
We sure do miss ol Garth but we also thank him for getting us started on a lifelong mission to help the horses have a voice.
