Golden’s Ledger Prince

July 2004

Prince is a 14- year-old American Saddlebred Palomino who is foundered in all four hoofs.  Prince is currently located in East County of San Diego at a rescue.  He was picked up by the rescue in East County in November, but they are now unable to put in the money or time to try and help the animal and are currently looking to find him a home where someone can put in the time and money to help him out.  Now UAWR is willing to take the horse off their hands and try to rehabilitate him.  In order to start the rehabilitation process it’s going to mean lots of money and at this moment funds are kind of tight at the rescue.  First off we need x-rays.  Five shots of each hoof are needed and each shot will run $25.00.  So, $25.00 x5 shots =$125.00 a hoof and x’s 4 hoofs the total in x-rays is $500.00.  The x-rays are needed in order to start the proper healing process for Prince.  After that its going to run us about $240.00 a month in order to provide the correct supplements, hoof trimmings, worming program and all together rehab.  Not to mention all the vet bills, time and TLC he is going to need.  In many cases with founder, horses start to give up, they lay down because there feet hurt so bad, they stop eating and that’s when you know its time to put them down, when they have given up on the fight for life.  On the other hand when you come across a horse like “Prince” who is in so much pain, but is still eating, still showing affection and still in the fight, that’s when we step in and try to do all we can to help them live out there life in happiness.  UAWR has worked with other horses at our facility with founder issues and we have had a very high success rate with the help of people like you.  So, what we are up against right now is low funding all together at the rescue, $500.00 x-ray bills up front, $240.00 a month for the next 12 months.  So, in order to raise some money to rescue this horse we are going to do a yard sale to try to raise money to go towards his x-rays and misc other items to help get this horse back on the path towards a good life….

So, what we are in need of…

We are looking for 24 people to commit to donate $10.00 a month for the next 12 months in order to help with the cost of supplements, hoof maintenance, vet bills, and worming programs directly for “Prince”.  $10.00 a month sounds like a lot but if you truly think about it, it’s not that much.  It breaks down to .34 cents a day, $2.50 a week or it would equal you giving up two cups of Starbucks a month.  If you commit to the next 12 months we will give monthly updates, photo updates, and a free visit to see Prince in Phelan, Ca (when accommodating for both parties).  If you come and take a picture with our beloved Prince we will post your name and a picture of you and Prince on our rescue website.  Also during your visit you can brush him and love on him as much as you want.  Also, an invoice with a prepaid envelope will be provide each month for payment to the rescue or we can do a payment plan.  Either one lump sum payment of $120.00 or two 6-month payments of $60.00 each, every 2 months at $20.00 each or every four months at $40.00 each, we are willing to work with you in order to get your assistance.  Also, for your convince you can sign up thru Pay Pal** and you can set it up to pay the $10.00 a month automatically thru your Debt Card, Checking account, Savings account, or credit cards.  Also, if you have email we will send a monthly reminder if you are paying month to month.  Also, since we are in SERIOUS need of assistance we are willing to go as low as $5.00 a month if need be and are always willing to go higher than $10.00 a month in order to come up with what is needed for the next 12 months.

Also, we are looking for people to donate items for our yard sale that is going to be held in El Cajon on July 31ST, 2004.  We are willing to pick up anything from anyone in the San Diego County, Riverside County, and San Bernardino County areas and all profits are going to go towards saving “Prince” and helping the rescue out with funding.

We are also going to be raffling off items in the next few months that are horse related and non-horse related in order to help with Prince and the other rescue horses. If you have items or would like to purchase and donate them for the raffle we would love those too. So if you do arts and crafts please donate some of your work to help out Prince.

Also, any horse owners that use Farnam products we are collecting UPC codes as we can redeem them for .20 cents each and it doesn’t sound like a lot but again it all adds up in the end and anything will help. It only takes 5 UPC’s to make a dollar.

The last thing we have is T-shirts, Coffee mugs, Mouse pads and other items for sale.  We will be putting Pictures of Prince on these and selling them as soon as we can.  A portion of each item sold will go directly to help fund the rescue of Prince.

we never are ahead and always trying to play catch up with the $$$ issue.  But to be honest it doesn’t matter, we are not in this business for the $$$$, any money we get from there adoption fees goes directly back into the rehab of the next abused animal and it’s a never ending cycle.  We do rely heavily upon donations from people like yourself, in order to continue helping these animals.  Without these donations we wouldn’t be able to survive and most of these horses would end up in slaughterhouses.

For all you Founder Junkies (such as I) and anyone else interested Check out the pictures of Princes Feet.

I and Everyone at UAWR want to Thank You in advance for all of your help.

July 17, 2007

Goodbye our Sweet Prince! Today we made the decision to help our sweet Prince to Cross the Rainbow Bridge as the pain of his feet where just becoming too much for him. We are so happy we were able to reunite him with his brother Duke and it was amazing and so good to see. It was time to let Prince go though so he would not suffer.
